We are heading back to the Brady Building on Sat. Oct. 15 for another day of renovating apartments for formerly homeless men.
We have about 20 Volunteers in Mission expected. Besides construction work we have food to serve, cleanup to do and errands to run for materials and tools.
Please check the Team Member page to see if you are on the list. Let Bob if the list needs an update.
Work Plan
We will be painting, installing drywall and refinishing floors. Bring gloves. A hat is often a good idea, too. In general we are providing our own tools.
Although we are not doing any electrical or plumbing installation, we sometimes have to do some electrical or plumbing “work arounds” or tear outs.
Cass has a decent supply of ladders, brooms, drywall tools. If we need them, we will buy roller covers and brushes for painting.

Hi Bob,
I am very bummed that I will be out of town that weekend. Let me know if there is anything I can do in advance. Food etc. Nano

Just got back from the Brady Building. Our projects next weekend (October 15, 2011) will be dry walling and floor refinishing (including sanding and polyurethane application). There are also places where painting is needed. Remember the ceiling we tore down in the front stairwell? Well, the roof has been fixed and that ceiling needs to be replaced also. Suggested tools include, but are not limited to, drywall stuff (squares, razor knives, roto-zips), sawhorses, a floor sander (does anyone have one? If not, we should rent), painting supplies (drop cloths, brushes, pans, etc.) and ladders and scaffolding stuff to work on the ceiling. Add extension cords, tape measures, drills and saws (and battery chargers for them) and other basic tools. We will have an apartment available as before to store our tools, eat and use the restroom. The benches we installed outside are being heavily used and are still solid, so that was good to confirm too.

I’ve reserved a floor sander that I can pick up Saturday morning so we can do the floors as quickly as possible.
